A723 addIT Series 4
Adcon's best selling RTU, the A723 addIT, is now available in its "fourth Edition" - thus
A723 addIT Series 4!
While from the outside nothing has changed - on the inside nothing has remained the same! A wealth of new features makes this RTU more attractive than ever!

The new features in detail:
1) SDI-12 Adapter on-board:
Now you can connect up to 40 SDI-12 sensors to the internal adapter of the A723 Series 4. That saves the money for the external A506 SDI-12 adapter and makes wiring much easier. Use a standard 7-pin Binder cable as for all other sensors, plug it in, set the driver in the Gateway - done!

2) Resolution of A/D Converter:
The new and much more powerful Renesas CPU provides Series 4 with true 12-Bit resolution. This reduces the max. error caused by AD conversion from 0.1% to 0.025% Thanks to a highly accurate voltage reference this resolution is available over the full temperature range of the RTU, from -30°C to +70°C.

3) Stabilized Excitation Power:
Ratiometric sensors require a stable excitation power. Now you can choose between unregulated battery power, ranging from 5.6V to 7.5V, or stabilized and accurate excitation power from 3.3V to 5.5V

4) Asynchronous Sampling:
While by default all sensors are sampled in the same instant, you can now choose to first sample Port A, then Port B. This is advisable for all sensors that might influence each others readings, eg. because they are sitting in a conductive media like water or wet soil.

5) Pulse Counter Frequency:
Count up to 50 pulses per second. That is of particular importance for high speed rain gauges, such as the new Pluvio from OTT Hydrometry, but also for conventional mechanical water and gas meters, and for electromagnetic flow meters.

6) 30% more Battery Power, 80% more Solar Power:
For the new addIT Series 4 we have chosen a brand new industrial grade NiMH battery, that can resist temperatures of up to 70°C (158°F) and offers superior capacity of 2100mAh. In order to get a proper charge into this new battery we have increased the capacity of the addIT's solar panel 220mA output power - almost twice the previous capacity.

7) More Memory for Data and Firmware:
Higher resolution, more SDI-12 sensors, and more options to store sensor values have made an increase of memory capacity a must. Thus Series 4 offers 4 times more memory than Series 3.

8) Firmware Upgrade without opening the case:
Support staff will love this feature! Finally the firmware of the RTU can be upgraded without having to open the case. Just connect the standard A720SC serial communications cable (item 200.720.540) into the power port and reflash your CPU!

9) Same Sensor Connectors as in A733:
A723 Series 4 uses the same connectors to plug in sensors and solar panels as are used in the A733 series of RTUs, reducing the number of spare parts you have to keep on stock. The CA boards as used to this date are gone. This will also improve corrosion resistance, since the external gaskets will help to avoid contact between the aluminum case, the Nickel plated connectors, water, fertilizers and other corrosive substances.
What else is worth mentioning?
A723 Series 4 still uses the same robust aluminum case and the same sturdy Binder connectors, made in Germany, that have proven to work very well since their introduction in 1998. Power consumption is as low as ever, and our postcard sized solar panels are sufficient to run the show.
Connect up to 6 analog sensors from our range of environmental equipment, 2 pulse counters, 2 TTL signals (in or out) and up to 30 SDI-12 sensors. A good installation can yield distances of 1000m and more. (3.000ft)
A723 addIT Series 4 is fully compatible to all current Adcon long
range devices, A731 addRELAY, A733 addWAVE, A740 addNODE, and to the A840 and A850 Telemetry Gateways. It can thus easily be integrated into existing networks.

Attention:
You have to upgrade your Telemetry Gateway to be able to make use of the new features of A723 Series 4!
A723 Series 4 is not compatible to A720, A730MD and A730SD!
Applications
The addITs are particularly popular in agriculture. Optimizing irrigation systems requires the installation of soil moisture sensors in large numbers within limited areas. With several soil moisture sensors attached to only one addIT vital soil data can thus inexpensively be relayed back to base through an existing network of Adcon weather stations.
The internal SDI-12 Adaptor makes the A723 addIT Series 4 even more competitive. Up to 30 additional sensors can be attached, provided they either have a very low power consumption or bring their own battery pack. Imagine this to be e.g. 5 multi-level soil moisture probes, or a big multi-parameter probe for water quality monitoring, which outputs anything from temperature, level, and pH to EC, turbidity and VOC's.
